Viprinet Hotplug Module

With the Viprinet Hotplug Modules you can equip your Multi-channel VPN Router in any combination of ways, so that you can bond and use all of key internet access points on your location. Hot-Plug means that the Modules can be integrated and swapped out while the router is being operated. They can also be used for connections from the LAN (Local Area Connection) with no interruption. Viprinet offers a selection of various types of Hot-Plug module, making it possible for you to find a solution tuned to your connection interface. This selection is constantly being enhanced by the latest technology. This makes the Viprinet Multi-channel VPN Router sustainable in the long term. Even lines for which there is still no integrated modem module (for example VDSL) can be integrated with the Fast or Gigabit Ethernet Module and an external modem with no problem.

Here is an overview of the current Viprinet Hotplug Modules available:

ADSL2+ Annex A

The ADSL2+ Annex A modem module is connected to the splitter on your telephone/DSL outlet – an external modem is not necessary. This spares you of “spaghetti syndrome” and saves electricity. The direct control over the modem through the router furthermore enables optimized latencies that are not possible with traditional ADSL modems. This modem module supports ADSL-speeds of up to 25Mbit/s downstream.

ADSL2+ Annex B

The ADSL2+ Annex B modem module is connected to the splitter on your telephone/DSL outlet – an external modem is not necessary. This spares you of “spaghetti syndrome” and saves on electricity. The direct control of the modem through the router enables furthermore optimized latencies which are not possible with traditional ADSL modems. This modem module supports ADSL-speeds of up to 16Mbit/s downstream.

UMTS/HSPA/GPRS/EDGE

The Viprinet UMTS/HSPA/GPRS/EDGE-Module supports current cellular data standards, including HSPA technology for high data transfer rates. This Viprinet module presents the optimal solution for locations for which no DSL-based offers are available. It can also be used to improve the performance of existing ADSL lines and serves as backup against fallout. A good choice is the Viprinet UMTS/HSPA/GPRS/EDGE Module for operation on changing locations – for example exhibitions and trade fairs. At locations where there is no UMTS-reception, the module changes automatically to GPRS or EDGE.

This Viprinet Hotplug Module includes a high-quality omnidirectional antenna which enables a 2dBi increase in reception. However, with the onboard SMA-input, an external UMTS antenna can be used instead. This guarantees great performance, even under bad network coverage. Combined with strong external antennas, this Viprinet Hot-plug Module enables a connection in many cases even in remote areas.

UMTS/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE

The Viprinet UMTS/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE-Module is a further development on the Viprinet UMTS/HSPA/GPRS/EDGE Module. It corresponds to the previous module in many ways, although now the HSDA+ standard, an improvement upon the UMTS/HSPA standard is supported. Meanwhile the HSPA+ has been interfused as a mobile transfer standard in many countries. Theoretically the HSPA+ standard enables speeds of up to 21Mbit/s downstream. Even in Germany, the expansion HSPA+ is meanwhile very advanced.

LTE/UMTS/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE

With the Viprinet LTE/UMTS/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE Module, it is possible to use all current cellular technologies with all Viprinet Multi-channel VPN Routers. The most modern cellular standard LTE – or 4G – enables higher bandwidths while enabling higher coverage at the same time. Particularly in mobile operation, the Viprinet LTE-Module guarantees an uninterrupted cellular connection through the additional support of the cellular standards UMTS and GSM. The transition between various cellular standards is seamlessly executed so that the best connection available can always be used.

Included are two high-quality omnidirectional antennas for the LTE-Module. With two SMA-inputs on every module, the connection to an external MIMO antenna is possible. This makes a good cellular connection possible even under difficult conditions. When choosing an external antenna, please make sure that LTE-frequencies as well as the UMTS-frequencies used are supported. This Viprinet LTE/UMTS/HSPA+/GPRS/EDGE Module supports the LTE-frequencies 800/900/1800/2100/2600 Mhz, which are widespread in Europe and other regions. The 700MHz frequencies used in the US, however, are not supported.

Gigabit Ethernet/Fast Ethernet

The Viprinet Ethernet Modules are the link to external modems or line-routers, which are to be connected to the bond of the Viprinet Multichannel VPN Router. With the Viprinet Ethernet Modules, SDSL modems, point-to-point radio links or dedicated lines can be connected to the Viprinet Multichannel VPN Router. In the Viprinet Multichannel VPN Hub in your data center or in your company’s headquarters, the Fast Ethernet Module serves as a WAN-port through which the encoded VPN-tunnel is received.
